On May 1, friends, neighbors and community members stopped by to bid farewell to Patsy Daimler, owner of Patsy & Co. Salon, as she hung up her scissors and retired from the day-to-day operations of her salon on East Pennsylvania Avenue in Dunnellon. Daimler’s retirement marks the end of a 52-year career in the business. She has been doing hair in the Dunnellon community for the past 40 years, starting in the 80s, when she and her husband Chuck moved to the area from South Florida.

After a wait of about 2 ½ half years since they broke ground in July of 2022, the new campus of First Baptist Church of Dunnellon held its grand opening on Sunday, April 6, and had its ribbon cutting on Monday, April 7. The church began on Mother’s Day in 1899 and outgrew its location on Powell Road a few years ago.

Before Pastor Tom Golden ever stepped foot on the property of what is now River Life Church, he had already stepped into the heart of the Dunnellon community. Eleven years ago, as Golden and his family exited Interstate 75, their first stop wasn’t the church. It was Dunnellon High School. Driving slowly through the parking lot, Golden and his wife Krista prayed over the school, believing for good things to come.

Dunnellon Little League opened its spring season with a ceremony recognizing all of the teams, the throwing of the first pitches, and a special presentation to one of its players on Feb. 22. Three former Dunnellon Little League players who now play for the Dunnellon High School softball and baseball teams, Samantha Bernstein, Lauren Burke and Markie Pastorella, threw out the first pitches to current Little League players Kate Middleton, Kinsley Strange and Evan Hufault.
