A resentencing hearing is scheduled to take place beginning Tuesday for Erik and Lyle Menendez, who are seeking reprieve from life prison terms for the 1989 shotgun murders of their parents in their Beverly Hills home. The brothers have spent about 35 years behind bars for the Aug. 20, 1989 killings of Jose and Mary Louise "Kitty" Menendez. They are asking for early release based on the claim that the killings were committed after years of abuse, including alleged sexual abuse by their father.

Police are searching for the deadly hit-and-run driver of a red Tacoma truck who crashed into pedestrians just before midnight in Westlake. Los Angeles Police Department officers responded at 11:50 p.m. Sunday to a traffic collision at the Alvarado Street and 8th Street intersection. The driver of a red Tacoma truck collided with a blue SUV that was making a left turn at the intersection. According to police, the red truck lost control and crashed into pedestrians on the southwest corner.

A suspect is in custody after five people were stabbed inside a Riverside sober living home early Monday morning. Riverside police responded at around 4 a.m. to reports of a stabbing at the Elmer Day Sober Living house on 4th Street and Fairmont Boulevard. Five roommates who were suffering from stab wounds were taken to a hospital, with one victim in critical condition. The suspect, who also lived at the home, had barricaded himself inside the home for a couple of hours.
