    Baseball infields at two Pasadena parks are closed after soil samplings testing the environmental impacts from the Eaton Fire, found elevated lead levels in the soil. The city of Pasadena said Friday that soil testing is needed where children are more likely to play in or on exposed soil. City officials said sampling done in two neighborhoods revealed lead levels above 80 parts per million, which does not require cleanup or remediation but does need monitoring.

    The Long Beach Police Department and the LA County Medical Examiner's Office are investigating reports of human remains found at Alamitos Beach in Long Beach. Detectives from the LBPD Homicide Detail were dispatched to the 2100 block of East Ocean Boulevard around 9:27 a.m. on Friday. Aerial footage showed a portioon of the beach surrounding a lifeguard tower cordoned off with red tape.

    After the destruction of around 11,500 homes from the recent Los Angeles wildfires, state lawmakers representing the communities that burned introduced disaster mortgage relief legislation on Thursday. The "Mortgage Relief for Disaster Survivors Act" would give homeowners in declared disaster areas a six-month relief on their mortgage payments. The bill was introduced by Reps. Judy Chu and Brad Sherman, who represent the Eaton and Palisades fire zones respectively.

    A team of experts worked to free an adult gray whale entangled in a gillnet off the coast of Rancho Palos Verdes, near Trump National Golf Club last week. NOAA Fisheries shared video of the April 9 rescue, which shows the moment when the last of the netting was pulled from the whale. After working for two hours, a shout of "It's off!" can be heard. A group of whale watchers from shore spotted the whale and reported it on April 8.
