    The Tyrone Christian Academy Archery Team traveled to state competition in March where they had an amazing run, according to Athletic Director and Coach Ryan DelBaggo. The students competed with more than 60 schools and 1,400 student archers from all around the state as part of the National Archery in School Program (NASP).

    Kevin Ryan Warner, 41, of Altoona, is charged with a felony for flight to avoid apprehension after police found him hiding in a barn at Meade Street in Tyrone Township trying to avoid arrest by the Blair Couny Sheriff’s Office. On March 21, between 8 and 9 p.m., officers received information that Warner, who was wanted on numerous warrants, was living in the barn. When officers arrived at the barn, they could hear movement like someone walking.

    At the end of Monday’s Tyrone Borough Council meeting, council member Sarah Hunter reminded fellow council members of Calvary Tyrone’s outreach program for the homeless in the community. After some discussion, council members agreed to donate $5,000 to the program from the community enrichment funds (funds generated from the windmills on Ice Mountain).

    Tyrone Borough Council members heard from concerned residents during public comment at Monday’s meeting. The first was Debra Moore, who along with several other community members, expressed frustration that issues with blighted properties in Tyrone have seemingly not been addressed since she originally brought those issues to light at a council meeting in fall of 2022. While Moore spoke, two others shared poster boards — one with pictures from the properties in 2022 and one with recent photos.
