Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and his family are lucky to have survived the arson attack on his official residence in Harrisburg early Sunday. It was the second act of violence in the state against a high-profile politician in less than a year; last July in Butler, a would-be assassin’s bullet grazed Donald Trump’s ear during a campaign rally—the first of two attempts on his life in 2024.

Most summers, Old Orchard Beach, Maine, welcomes a lot of Canadian visitors, who typically make up about 40 percent of the coastal town’s tourists. But this year will be different. Since taking office, President Donald Trump and his administration have mocked Canada’s leaders, imposed steep tariffs on its goods, subjected its citizens to more stringent visitor-registration requirements, and threatened its very independence in juvenile ways.

A month ago and truer today.

"We base our safety and security on a belief that the secretary of defense is qualified and truthful. . . and I would say I have tremendous doubts about both of those.” @CNN @AudieCornish https://t.co/FbvFJvTb66

The Senator has no military experience. Also, in the context of many of the complaints against Hegseth, "expose myself" is super creepy.

I will lead the breach. I will lay down cover fire. I will take the high ground. I’ll expose myself to enemy fire to communicate. We must bring back integrity, focus, and put the Warfighter first inside DOD. I stand with @SecDef @PeteHegseth. 🇺🇸
