There is a large contradiction between the growing population and the limitations in available cropland, and consequently, there is a need to safely use metal-contaminated farmland to secure the food supply. Abnormal climate change patterns, “Grain for Green” program, regional conflicts and environmental damage are currently limiting the establishment of a sustainable global food supply.
