1 INTRODUCTION The COVID-19 pandemic brought substantial changes to society, with every citizen adapting to the new normal way of life by wearing masks and working from home in many fields. Besides the loss of over 6.8 million lives globally (as of April 9, 2023), hardships in the form of economic and psychological suffering resulted from the pandemic for many people. The extent of economic hardship people experienced differed according to their labor force status.
