The annual bowl game in Jacksonville will be played Dec. 27 at EverBank Stadium with a 7:30 p.m. kickoff time, the bowl announced on Thursday. The date matches the earliest playing of the game in the bowl’s 81-year existence. It has been played four times on Dec. 27 (1958, 1969, 1976 and 1986). The game will be televised nationally on ABC.

Coleman, the All-News4JAX basketball player of the year and state’s Mr. Basketball in 2021 from West Nassau, will try and leave his mark in a different sport as his career winds down at UCF. Coleman took part in spring practice with the UCF football team and is attempting to finish his career with the Knights on the gridiron.

Jacksonville signed linebacker Dennis Gardeck and waived offensive lineman Cooper Hodges with a failed physical designation. Hodges, a Baker County High School graduate, was a good story for the Jaguars.
