An area of low pressure to our south is still responsible for seeing winds off the lake and spotty showers around the Northland today. Winds will shift overnight, and heavy smoke from Canadian wildfires across southeast Manitoba will drift southeastward around an area of high pressure into northeastern Minnesota beginning Thursday morning. Those who have breathing problems or are being advised by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency to limit time outside.

An upper-level piece of energy continues to churn over the upper Midwest, sparking off a few showers. Tomorrow, light rain is possible, especially in the early afternoon. Dry air will eat away at most of the rain as it falls and could lead to sprinkles and erratic surface winds. Sunshine will take over as high pressure takes hold for the remainder of the week. Warm and dry air will be the trend through the latter half of the week and into the weekend.

Isolated PM Showers PossibleToday we’ll see more sunshine with high temperatures in the 60s away from Lake Superior, and 50s near the coast. Wind will be light on Saturday, but mainly still off the big lake. Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are expected across northeast Minnesota on Saturday. Rain showers and thunderstorms will diminish as the sun sets. Please be aware of drier conditions and potential fire hazards this weekend.

Once again, some frost is possible tonight around the Northland due to light winds and clear skies. Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are expected across northeast Minnesota on Saturday. Rain showers and thunderstorms will diminish as the sun sets.

There won’t be much change in the weather pattern over the next several days. An area of high pressure north of the International Border will bring in drier air and more winds off the lake. These winds will aid in the drying out of vegetation over the weekend. Please be advised of any burning restrictions the Northland may have over the weekend. The good news is the wind won’t be like what we saw earlier this week.
