    NEW YORK – A team led by investigators at Institut Pasteur has commenced work on a new lateral flow assay that could be used to detect the presence of the malaria-causing parasite Plasmodium vivax in hard to diagnose, asymptomatic individuals. The project, called PvSeroRDT (short for P. vivax Sero (as in blood) RDT, rapid diagnostic test), received €4 million ($4.5 million) from the EU earlier this year and will run through 2030.

    NEW YORK – Following a recent $4.3 million financing, Upfront Diagnostics will use the proceeds to accelerate the commercialization of its lateral flow test for triaging stroke patients, LVOne, in the UK, Europe, and US, according to its CEO Gonzalo Ladreda. The Cambridge, UK-based company announced this week that it had raised the funds with Phoenix Investments, a UK investment management fund, leading the round along with Cambridge Enterprise Ventures and SBRI Healthcare.
