Earlier this week, Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel emphasized the pivotal role of the team's front seven this season, pointing to the significant investment made to bolster that unit. "I think that's got to be a strength for us this year, that front seven," said the coach, a former 14-year NFL linebacker himself. "We certainly invested in that position, and I like how they're competing. Of the 14 new faces the Patriots signed during free agency, eight came on the defensive side of the ball.

As Stefon Diggs walked up the stairs and onto the practice fields at Gillette Stadium on Monday afternoon, Josh McDaniels had one arm draped over his shoulder, the two sharing a laugh. When the wide receivers went into individual drills, Diggs was the first to participate. After his rep, he would mentor the younger players (Kayshon Boutte, Ja'Lynn Polk, Eftin Chishim, among others).

The first domino of what is shaping up to be a very busy offseason for the Celtics has fallen. Tatum was one of four unanimous selections, as he, Gilgeous-Alexander, Jokic and Antetokounmpo got First Team votes on all 100 ballots.

One week ago, Brad Stevens was in New York, sitting on the Celtics' bench alongside assistant general manager Austin Ainge, watching Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown go through their pregame warmups. They probably felt like they were in a good spot. After falling behind 0-2, the Celtics responded with a 22-point win in Game 3 and had a chance to even the series, potentially stealing back home-court advantage. They had no idea what kind of disaster was coming. Flash forward one week.
