MITCHELL – Bedford North Lawrence’s Paige Voigtschild set a school record as the Stars swept meets from county rival Mitchell during high school track action on Monday. Voigtschild shattered the school record in the 3200 meter distance race as the Stars won the girls meet 64-59. BNL dominated the boys meet, winning all but one event, while recording a 103-19 triumph. Voigtschild cross the line in 11:49.87, breaking the mark of 11:51.67 (set by Grace Tanksley in 2022).

NEW ALBANY – New Albany’s Tyler Hubbard hammered two home runs as the Bulldogs belted Bedford North Lawrence 6-0 during high school baseball action on Monday. New Albany pitcher Sean Rose pitched a complete game, allowing only six hits, as the Bulldogs evened their record at 7-7. Hubbard blasted a lead-off homer in the first, then followed with a two-run bomb in the second. “Two pitches that were hit out of the park, that was the difference,” BNL coach Steven McNabb said.

ELNORA – Bedford North Lawrence swept meets from North Daviess and Barr-Reeve during high school track action on Thursday. The Stars won the girls meet with 93 points, followed by the Vikings (46) and Cougars (21). In the boys meet, BNL scored 96 points to top North Daviess (35) and Barr-Reeve. In the girls meet, BNL won 11 events. Paige Voigtschild was a double winner in the 1600 (6:16) and 3200 (12:17), while Avery Brown took two blue ribbons in the pole vault (7-0) and long jump (14-6).

The Stars cranked out 12 hits and took advantage of 10 walks to swarm the Bluejackets in five innings during the renewal of the county rivalry. ”The girls played well,” BNL coach Brad Gilbert said. “They came off the bus ready to go.”Tori Nikirk paced the offensive attack with three hits, Kendall Graves drove in four runs with a double and triple, and Ava Ratliff banged out two extra-base hits.

BLOOMFIELD – Bedford North Lawrence won two three-set thrillers, but Bloomfield battled to a 3-2 decision over the Stars during girls high school tennis action on Monday. BNL claimed marathon victories at No.1 singles and No.1 doubles. “This was a match I knew would definitely be close,” BNL coach Ian Dillman said. “From the start, we weren’t match ready. It showed how sluggish we were in the first set.”Emma Conover fought past Lani Graves 7-5, 4-6, 10-1 (in the super tiebreaker for the third set).
