Park rangers recovered the body of Dr. Shawn Frehner from Lake Mead on Friday, April 18, near the Boulder Islands. The coroner confirmed his death was caused by drowning, and that he had sedatives in his system at the time. The coroner confirmed Frehner’s identity through dental records. He was initially reported missing Sunday, April 6.

    LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - A man was taken into custody after wielding a knife at a Las Vegas shopping center Wednesday, police say. Las Vegas Metro Police said an armed suspect was causing a disturbance and damaging items inside a business. This started at 12:50 p.m. near Blue Diamond and Valley View. Officers confronted the suspect outside the business, making demands to drop the knife. At first, the suspect did not comply. Later, officers said the suspect was taken into custody.

    LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - FOX5 is following a power outage in central Las Vegas that impacted nearly 1,500 customers and UNLV. NV Energy said the outage started around 1:08 p.m. The outage was on Flamingo Road between Eastern and Maryland. Initial reports said 1,454 customers were out of power. UNLV said the outage impacted it’s Gateway Building and parking garage, and an administrative building on the Maryland campus.

    LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - Police revealed children as young as six years old died in a crash near Moapa. Nevada State Police said three vehicles were involved in a crash on Sunday, May 4 on I-15 and mile marker 100 in Clark County. Police said eight people in total, including four small children, were involved. A six and nine-year-old died at the scene. Police said a suspected DUI driver drove a Chevrolet Silverado with a boat and trailer in tow.

    LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - Police said one person died in a Nye County crash Wednesday morning. Nevada State Police said the crash involved passenger vehicles. It happened around 9:30 a.m. on US95 near mile marker 35 in Esmerelda County, south of Tonopah. Police confirmed one death in their initial report. No immediate details were shared on whether anyone else was involved and their conditions. Police said US 95 is closed in both directions.
