Andrew Van Ginkel, the Vikings’ cyborg defender, could be understood as the embodiment of the Brian Flores defensive ethos. To be sure, there are other players who exemplify Flores’ most coveted traits: intelligence, versatility, hard work, aggression. Harrison Smith, Josh Metellus, Byron Murphy, and Blake Cashman (among others) stand out as some notable examples.

Writing about football can be risky business. Nowhere is that riskiness more prevalent than in the 5 very specific Vikings predictions. At this point, the piece has become a yearly tradition for yours truly on PurplePTSD, the kind of topic that can fill up the slower portion of the offseason that arrives in June and July. On occasion, there’s even a correct guess or two. Any chance the current iteration involves catching lightning in a bottle, going a perfect five-for-five?

Under Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, the Vikings’ dead money situation has been something to monitor. Much of the issue was that the regime change – the 2022 switch from the Rick Spielman days to the Kwesi Adofo-Mensah days – meant that the roster got quite a bit of work done. Where are things at in the present moment?

Conveniently, there are only a handful of Minnesota players who clear the $10 million threshold. The list of the Vikings’ 5 largest cap hits is thus satisfyingly easy to compile. Do note, folks, that we’re not talking about the largest contracts overall (or any upcoming cap peril). Rather, we’re dealing with the here and now of the team’s budget. Which players are taking the largest bite out of the pie in 2025?

A basic investing idea — an area where Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has expertise from his days working on Wall Street — is to sell high. Essentially, if one has good evidence to believe that stocks have reached a climactic moment, then the best move is to sell in an effort to get the most value possible (value is a critical word in the Kwesi lexicon). In the NFL, the most valuable asset a team can have is a strong QB1. Twice, Adofo-Mensah has sold high at that spot.
