Recently (31st December 2024) while inaugurating the Conference as a part of Sivagiri pilgrimage, Pinarayi Vijayan supported the proposal of Swami Satchitanand’s to stop the practice of removing shirts, to keep the torso bare while entering temples. It is believed that this practice came into being to identify those wearing sacred thread, upper caste which alone were privileged to wear it. Some people doubt it, but it is unlikely that there was any other reason for keeping one’s torso uncovered.

Jharkhand Janadhikar Mahasabha (JJM) and Loktantra Bachao Abhiyan (LBA) condemn the harassment of human rights defender Nadeem Khan and Alt News founder Mohammad Zubair by the BJP-led UP and central governments. Both of them have been democratically fighting against hate and communal politics. JJM and LBA stand in solidarity with them and demand quashing of the bogus FIR and immediate end to their harassment.

PUCL is shocked at the manner in which Delhi Police is conducting a targeted witch- hunt and harassment of human rights activist Nadeem Khan, at the instigation of a few social media accounts on Twitter. Today (30th November 2024), at 5 PM, four police personnel including the SHO of Shaheen Bagh Police Station in Delhi, came to a private residence in Bangalore where Nadeem Khan was staying, and attempted to detain him without any warrant or notice.
