Three weeks after a fatal vehicle crash in Dana Point Harbor killed one Dana Hills High student and injured five others, tragedy struck the Dana Hills community again. On Tuesday, May 28, 17-year-old Dana Hills student athlete Calvin Etter was killed in an early-morning, one-car crash in South Orange County. The California Highway Patrol received reports of the collision at 1:18 a.m. on the southbound side of the SR-241 Toll Road, near the Antonio Parkway overpass, in Rancho Santa Margarita.

Dana Point resident Charlos Bentley, a father of two, remains hospitalized after he was the victim of a hit-and-run in front of his home on Saturday, May 24. Bentley was getting ready to take his wife and kids surfing at San Onofre State Beach the next day, loading his truck around 10 p.m., when a passing car struck him and his vehicle. The driver of the car fled the scene without stopping, leaving Bentley lying in the street, according to a GoFundMe page for the family.

In a yearly tradition, Dana Point Hills High School honored its senior students with an awards ceremony celebrating their accomplishments over the past four years as they prepare for graduation on June 5.
