Smith and Volkmann have played volleyball since they were little and are now captains in their fifth year at Sac State.

These wins came after Sac State dropped the last two games of their three-game road trip against Weber State and Idaho State.

Categories: Sac State split matches this week, moving to 3-1 in Big Sky The Sacramento State volleyball team made quick work of the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks, winning 3-1 on Thursday, keeping the Lumberjacks winless in conference play. In the final game of their homestand, the Hornets were defeated by the Northern Colorado Bears in a batter to the end on Saturday, losing 2-3 to end their undefeated streak at home.

Going into this match both Portland State and Sac State were 2-0 in conference play. “We came in here knowing that they came off a couple wins and we knew we had to fight and we did,” senior outside hitter Caitlin Volkmann said.
