Contrary to what it's name might suggest, plenty of people dislike pop music for the very things that make it popular. Its detractors name the sense of superficiality that permeates the genre as a reason for their dislike. Although pop songs are usually catchy, Billboard Top 100 hits, those who dislike it also tend to find the computerized background music and repetitive, innuendo-heavy lyrics to be somewhat distasteful.
