WXII has learned new details on Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School's multimillion-dollar financial issues. During a town hall meeting hosted by the Forsyth County Association of Educators, Commissioner Chair Don Martin did not shy away from his frustrations surrounding the school system's budget deficit; and also, money it still owes the county.

Across the country and here in the Piedmont Triad, people gathered for events to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice serving our country. Many attended a tribute service indoors to view the "Tree of Valor" exhibit. This Memorial Day, 11 fallen service members were honored for their life and their sacrifices on a wall. Their families were standing in remembrance.

THE PIEDMONT TRIAD. FIRST TONIGHT AND NEW AT 11 BICYCLISTS ACROSS THE COUNTRY. AND HERE IN THE TRIAD GATHERED TO HONOR FELLOW CYCLISTS WHO HAVE BEEN INJURED OR KILLED ON THE ROAD. THERE WAS ONE MEMORIAL RIDE EARLIER TONIGHT IN GREENSBORO. OUR KARA PETERS WAS THERE. NEARLY 150 BICYCLISTS GATHERED HERE AT THE PARK FOR THE RIDE OF SILENCE. THEY HOPE TO REMIND DRIVERS TO BE RESPECTFUL AND COURTEOUS TO BICYCLISTS ON THE ROADS. BICYCLISTS SENDING A MESSAGE NOT THROUGH THEIR WORDS, BUT THROUGH THEIR BIKES.

The Forsyth County Association of Educators showed up in numbers at Monday's county commissioners' public hearing. They don't agree with the $180 million funding request from the Board of Education. Their main concern is that it's not enough. They've been vocal about opposing the school system's funding request since the start. It would come through a funding formula based on property tax revenue.
