1 Introduction Intimate partner violence (IPV) is a common form of violence that includes different forms of behaviour (e.g., emotional, sexual, physical or financial abuse or violence) perpetrated by a current or former partner (World Health Organisation [WHO] 2004a). IPV is a significant public health problem that affects one in four women (27%) in Australia (Australian Bureau of Statistics 2024), and one in three women worldwide (33%, WHO 2024a, 2024b).
