FOXBOROUGH - Rhamondre Stevenson is one of the few players who have played in Josh McDaniels’ system. The Patriots running back told reporters Monday that he knows it cold thanks to how well it was drilled into his head during his rookie season. “I’d say I’m very comfortable. Just looking back through it, Josh [McDaniels] and Bill Belichick yelled at me a lot my rookie year for this same playbook. So I kind of got it drilled into me.

The Patriots have locked up first-round pick Will Campbell, who is expected to be Drake Maye’s blindside protection for the foreseeable future. Campbell and the team agreed to terms on a four-year, $43.66 million full guaranteed rookie contract, with a $28.39 million signing bonus, a source confirmed. The LSU product, taken No. 4 overall in April’s draft, has been a fixture at left tackle during all of the early season camp.

FOXBOROUGH - Drake Maye had his best practice day Monday. At least, his best with the media looking on. And it wasn’t close. After a four-pick outing two weeks ago, and an uneven performance last week during the second open session, Maye looked much more at ease in the new system during the latest OTA session. Prior to the workout, Ashton Grant, his quarterbacks coach, talked about what it’s been like working with Maye as he goes through the trials and tribulations of adjusting to a new system.
