    As a former U.S. Capitol Police employee, it was clear to me January 6, 2021 was an intentional ruse. Each year the Capitol Police receive hundreds of requests for various events and gatherings. Not all are approved. Primary factors for denial are manpower and security considerations. But when the sun rose on January 7, there was no doubt the power brokers on Capitol Hill allowed, even emboldened, the events of that day.

It further provides rationale for what it means to be a citizen in our constitutional republic. Founding documents link our nation to a belief in God and the rule of law, where elected officials are to govern in the best interests of the citizens.
