RadTech, the Association for Ultraviolet and Electron Beam Technologies, announced that Mike Bonner of Saint Clair Systems Inc. has assumed the role of president for a two-year term. Bonner succeeds Michael Gould of Rahn USA, who has completed his term as president and will continue to serve as immediate past president. In the past fiscal year, Sika achieved record sales of CHF 11.76 billion (approximately $12.83 billion), compared to the previous year of CHF 11.24 billion (approximately $12.26 billion), amidst continued challenging market conditions. In local currencies this corresponds to an increase of 7.4%. Sales growth in Swiss francs amounted to 4.7%. This figure includes a negative currency effect of -2.7%. Organic growth rose slightly and was 1.1% above the previous year’s level.

Researchers at the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) see a realistic path forward to the manufacture of bio-derivable wind blades that can be chemically recycled and the components reused, ending the practice of old blades winding up in landfills at the end of their useful life. The findings are published in an August 2024 issue of the journal Science.

The Adhesion Society announced that the submission deadline for the Early Career Adhesion Scientist Award has been extended to February 7, 2025. All materials must be submitted on or before February 7 to be considered. The Early Career Adhesion Scientist Award was created to recognize a young scientist or engineer for outstanding fundamental research in adhesion science.
