Skip to main content CREW (Creative Enterprise West) announced the winner of the inaugural Irish Creative Business Cup, a global event held at the CREW Creative Enterprise and Innovation Hub in Galway on March 20th. Five shortlisted companies were invited to the final to pitch their innovative Creative Industries Startups to an international jury of experts and investors.

Today the Western Development Commission (WDC) has announced the Interceltic Business Forum will travel to the West of Ireland for the first time. Following the success of previous editions in Lorient, France and Cardiff, Wales, this year’s event is taking place on the 19th April in the Portershed, Galway.

Five Irish businesses have been selected for the inaugural Creative Business Cup Competition. The Irish competition is now part of the Global Creative Cup thanks to CREW and our team at the Western Development Commission. Mersus Technologies, Script Guru by Mekkato Createch Studios, Wonky Woollins, Isolde and Grá Chocolates, have all been selected as the national finalists for the first ever Irish Creative Business Cup.

Today, St Brigid’s Day, the 1st of February 2024, marks 25 years since the Western Development Commission (WDC) was officially given its seal of approval by the then Minister for Agriculture and Food, Joe Walsh. The Western Development Act was the culmination of a community-led effort which began in 1994 to establish a development agency specifically for the west.
