    MANCHESTER, NJ — A Manchester Township man died Thursday in a head-on crash on Route 539 after suffering a medical episode, Manchester police said Friday. Danny R. Coleman, 77, of the Whiting section of Manchester, suffered the emergency before the crash and succumbed to his injuries, Manchester Capt. Albert Vega said. Jose Rodriguez-Morales, 55, of Levittown, Pennsylvania, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River for treatment.

    MARLBORO, NJ — Road closures remain in place throughout Marlboro on Friday in the wake of powerful thunderstorms that rolled through Monmouth County on Thursday night. Nearly 6,600 homes and businesses were without power on Friday in Marlboro, and Route 79 was closed to traffic because traffic signals at multiple intersections were not operating, police said. The closure of Route 79 left Marlboro High School inaccessible, forcing the Freehold Regional School District to close the school Friday.

    BRICK, NJ — A Brick Township High School student has been honored by the Sharing Network Foundation for his efforts to promote organ donation with a scholarship to help with his college expenses. Thomas Olski, who graduated Wednesday, was awarded a scholarship from the Riley’s Path Fund to help with expenses as he attends Rutgers University in New Brunswick, where he plans to pursue a career in disability law to help others facing health and financial challenges.
