Moody’s Ratings is reviewing Sri Lanka’s sovereign credit rating for an upgrade, as the nation is set to complete the restructuring of its dollar bonds. The rating company assigned the new dollar notes Sri Lanka is offering to swap for old debt a (P) Caa1 rating, according to a statement . Dollar debt maturing in 2030 rose to the highest since June 2021 on Thursday.

Sri Lanka will issue new notes to holders of its defaulted dollar bonds, as the South Asian nation draws closer to completing the restructuring of its $43 billion of foreign debt. The exchange will entail switching $12.55 billion of bonds for new securities, the Ministry of Finance said in a statement Tuesday. Holders of existing notes will be able to swap their holdings up to Dec. 12, the statement said.

The Philippines is on alert as Toraji intensified into a severe tropical storm and is expected to make landfall in the north on Monday. The weather bureau warned of heavy rainfall and strong winds. The southeastern portion of Isabela province and the northern portion of Aurora province are under wind signal No. 2 alert, it said in an advisory.
