Since 1938, the Harvard Study of Adult Development has followed two groups of men. One is a group of 456 boys from Boston's most troubled families and roughest neighborhoods. The other consisted of 268 Harvard College students, chosen by a professor of hygiene specifically for their potential to become healthy, well-adjusted adults. The focus of the longitudinal study has been to discern the factors that best predict a long, healthy life.

This summer’s Olympic games will mark the 100th anniversary of the incredible performance and shocking faith of Scottish Gold Medalist Eric Liddell, whose story was immortalized in the 1981 movie Chariots of Fire. A devout Christian and of Scottish Presbyterian missionaries to China, Liddell was an athlete of tremendous promise from his youth. In addition to running, Liddell was selected to play for Scotland’s international rugby team seven times.

A parent of a six-year-old recently asked WIRED Magazine’s advice columnist, “My kid wants to be an influencer. Is that bad?”WIRED’s answer, more or less, was that the concerned parent should relax. “All that collective angst about television, movies, newspapers, and theater,” the author wrote, is “a lineage, a rite of passage through which all generations must proceed.” That’s true. But just because “The Twist” was pretty harmless doesn’t mean that TikTok is.

Typically, the side that tries the hardest to obscure what is being argued about is the wrong one. For example, abortion supporters, having largely lost the scientific and constitutional battles, are turning now to critical theory talking points and claims of victimhood. The strategy is to portray abortion as a justice issue and anyone who opposes it as an oppressor.
