Frequent bus users say that LED displays on BMTC buses either don’t provide information about bus stops or are broken most of the time. These screens are installed inside the bus to post updates about upcoming bus stops. Metrolife took eight BMTC buses on July 29 and 30. One did not have an LED display infrastructure. Four were out of order. The remaining three flashed the ‘Welcome to BMTC’ message but no information on bus stops. We boarded three buses on the first day.

An online conference on Thursday highlighted the importance of play among children. ‘Voices of Play’ was hosted by Ekstep, a non-profit from Bengaluru, and Reach India Collective, an alliance of 16 education-based organisations working in remote locations. According to ‘Bachpan Manao, Badhte Jao’, an initiative by Ekstep, play is important for the cognitive development of children until the age of eight. ‘How Children in India Play’ was the theme of the conference.

Kailas Sangeet Trust is organising the tribute concert, titled ‘Acharya Devo Bhava’. It will showcase a performance each by vocalist Kaushiki Chakraborty and sitar player Anupama Bhagwath. Kaushiki will perform alongside Tanmay Deochake (harmonium), Ishaan Ghosh (tabla), and Murad Ali Khan (sarangi). Anupama Bhagwath will be accompanied by Meghashyam Keshava on tabla. The complete collection of works by renowned Kannada author K P Poornachandra Tejaswi will be released at a literary event on Monday. The 14-volume collection is titled ‘K P Poornachandra Tejaswi Samagra Kritijagattu’ (‘K P Poornachandra Tejaswi’s Comprehensive World of Works’). It is a mix of novels, short stories, poems, and plays. It is priced at Rs 10,000 and will be available in bookstores.
