SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — After a car drove into a crowd at a Filipino festival in Vancouver last weekend, a San Diegan who happened to be selling merchandise at the event shared her recollection of the tragedy with FOX 5/KUSI. The incident occurred during the Lapu Lapu Day festival, a celebration in honor of an indigenous Filipino chieftain credited with defeating Spanish forces led by explorer Ferdinand Magellan.

Monday’s meeting involved getting feedback on the Eugene Brucker Education Center in University Heights that currently houses district headquarters.
