    Budget 2025 has delivered a $646 million boost for learning support. Increased support for students with conditions affecting their learning is the issue schools have called for greater government investment in year after year. Education Minister Erica Stanford said today that, across different initiatives, the Budget will provide funding for more than an additional 2 million teacher aide hours per year by 2028.

"I think Wellington City Council can do better. "The council can manage its spending a lot more effectively including its capital spending," Andrew Little said.     Schools are welcoming the Government's $100 million maths initiatives but some in the education sector are raising concerns about finding staff for the roll-out. The initiatives include $56 million for the equivalent of 143 full-time maths intervention teachers, $40 million for intermediate students who aren't meeting curriculum expectations to receive tutoring and $4 million for a maths test for students at the end of Year 2 to determine if they need additional support.
