I recently had some friends in from out of town, and in addition to showing them the sights of New York City, we made our way through the streets sampling the multitude of cuisines Manhattan has to offer. In our travels, we stopped by Uncle Gussy’s Greek Food Truck for some traditional Greek fare. Uncle Gussy’s has been a neighborhood fixture at 345 Park Avenue and East 51st since 1971.

O’HaraAlthough I was close to having my waist-band bust from all the indulging at the 9W Market (if you haven’t yet – read Part 1 here!), I couldn’t leave without trying a burger and fries from the Filling Station. The meal is touted as “the best hamburger and fries in the world ever!!!” And, I agree. The burger, made from organic brisket, hanger steak and short rib, is ground fresh daily.

With new trendy restaurants and cafés dotting the streets, visiting a classic New York City delicatessen, PJ Bernstein was a comfort. PJ’s is also a full-service restaurant with tables covered appropriately with butcher paper and an atmosphere filled with an aroma of food that could best be described as “homemade”. PJ Bernstein first opened in 1965 and three generations later, they are still going strong.
