Triad music folks are buzzing with the announcement that Ziggy’s will be opening a Greensboro location, right in the heart of downtown, in the former Artistika building (523 S. Elm St.) starting May 16. But really, Ziggy’s is only one of a couple new music venues branching out along Elm Street in 2025. And as we head into summer, they’ll join the Back Table in finding its footing along with the neighboring (and relatively new) Continental Club.

North Carolina Azalea Festival, April 1-6Down at the coast, the North Carolina Azalea Festival is blooming throughout downtown Wilmington the first weekend in April. Justin Moore and Flo Rida are the main acts at Live Oak Bank Pavilion (April 3 and 4), but I’d rather be honky tonkin’ downtown on Friday at the Eagle’s Dare for their annual “Poor Man’s Garden Party” azalea spin-off.

Building on their successful Fat Tuesday at the Flat in 2024, “this year, in keeping with our name, we’ve called it ‘Phat Toosday,’” explained vocalist, manager, and general “dad viber” Jeremy Goad.
