The Pitt Season 2 is happening and for good reason. Every week, The Pitt gained more popularity. Word of mouth on Max’s newest medical drama was incredible, with each episode gaining more viewers than the last. By the time The Pitt Season 1 came to a close, one thing was abundantly clear — we’re all family inside The Pitt. The Pitt Season 2 is already in production, with a return set for January 2026.

When 9-1-1 decides to dig in, it digs in. 9-1-1 Season 8 Episode 14, titled “Sick Day,” the first part of a two-part thriller called 9-1-1: Contagion, delivers one of the best episodes of the show as of late. It wastes no time in getting to the action but there’s still room for the personal touches that allow insight into where the characters are at currently before heading into disaster. The Han-Wilson family unit continues to be a nice touch this season.

A lot of responses to The Pitt Season 1 seem to be some variation of “real TV is back.” Whether that’s because it’s a medical drama, or its weekly release schedule, or its incredible word-of-mouth campaign, who’s to say? But now that the doctors and nurses have clocked out, and the news that The Pitt will be returning every January for the foreseeable future, it’s hard to argue—real TV is back, indeed.

The Pitt finally clocks out with The Pitt Episode 15 after a very successful first season. Fifteen grueling hours starting at 7 a.m. that saw minor injuries and devastating losses, on top of the many personal journeys the characters went through, all come down to a finale that honors the trials and tribulations of each character.

After the past quality episodes, 9-1-1 Season 8 Episode 13, titled “Invisible,” settles for hastily written conflicts and less-than-engaging rescues. Which is disappointing, considering it’s a Hen-centric (Aisha Hinds) episode. Eddie carries the other part of this episode to better standards, but in some ways, his story is lacking as well. It’s television, so all conflicts and resolutions are technically manufactured. But they shouldn’t feel manufactured.

the instant success of THE PITT makes me wonder if we’re officially moving past the whole “prestige tv” aesthetic and back to just making really great television
