How is it already 5 weeks and a day since my hysterectomy?!? And how is it already 24 days since I learned I have uLMS (uterine leiomyosarcoma)?!? Oh, and how is it I’m still in this much pain and this extra-extraordinarily fatigued?…. This week has been filled with many more roller coaster rides. The drive down to see the new Gynecological Oncologist last Friday was lovely, full of evergreen views and the good company of my best friend/partner.

This second week of my hysterectomy recovery has been, if nothing else, surprising. You see, on Wednesday, at 1:38pm my phone rang and on the other end was my OBgyn sounding nothing like her usual chipper cheery self — she sounded restrained, concerned as she asked, “is this Katherine?”Then the words “pathology report” and “tumor” came tumbling out of my phone and, then, worst of all….“is a cancer”.

Luna watching out the window for that darn cat. A week ago today I was under anesthesia, my uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries and cervix being evicted from my form. How has it already been a week?!? I’ve watched so many YouTube videos, like this one about Underconsumption Core, which I thought was just us living within our means and respecting the environment. We’ve watched some of season three of The Bear, which is utterly brilliant, some of these episodes are pure art.

A couple of years ago, I had an incident where I was home alone with our dog when she started growling. This wasn’t the growl of nonsense related to seeing a cat in the neighbor’s yard, or the growl of “get off my lawn” that she does when someone in the neighbor’s yard next door — no, this was that deep dark growl with her hackles raised way up that she only does when she is seriously convinced there is a problem.

Let's stop with the ignorant fat shaming alreadyI once spent a year working with a local non-profit as a diabetes prevention coach. I'd facilitate 12 week long group classes with people who had A1c's that qualified them as pre-diabetic. We discuss ways to increase activity and make sustainable changes to the way they were eating. At the time I led these groups I was a six 6/8 AND I used a cane most days. We'd begin each class with everyone getting a chance to check in about their week.

Hopefully this one knows what they're doing!Tomorrow I will travel over 50 miles and two counties away to see yet another new specialist, this time a cardiologist. My husband will drive because I am too often too fatigued and lightheaded to safely drive that far, especially after exerting energy on new evaluations and meetings and such. I may or may not walk away with yet a new diagnosis that is co-morbid with ME/CFS.
