Wakehurst has teamed up with National Geographic Kids magazine for three years, kicking off with a special Nature Heroes mission this October half-term. Until Sunday, November 3, families can follow the Seed Seeker trail, as they learn how to bank a mystery seed, just like scientists at Wakehurst’s Millennium Seed Bank. The activity costs £3 per child for the activity booklet and a badge when they complete it.

I was invited to visit the Brighton branch of this national burger chain to try out what it has to offer. Located in Gardner Street, it’s in the heart of the North Laine area, and is a great place to stop for a quick lunch or a relaxed dinner. We stopped by on a Friday night, and the place had a lovely buzz.

Glow Wild, the fabulous festive lantern trail, has become a winter staple for many families across Sussex and beyond. Coming into its 11th year at Wakehurst, in Ardingly near Haywards Heath in West Sussex, the eagerly awaited event returns on November 28 this year. It is expected around 80,000 visitors will pass through the doors and be transported into a magical world lit by 1,000 lanterns this season. Sompting Pumpkins is based at the 1,000-acre Lychpole Farm just off the A27 at Sompting and will be open again this weekend and for October half term. It offers 25 different varieties of pumpkins to pick, as well as tractor and trailer rides, arts and crafts, food and drinks for sale as well as food demonstrations and recipe ideas. Caroline Harriott and her husband David have been tenant farmers at Lychpole for almost 20 years, but have been growing pumpkins there for six years.
