This week, former Democratic nominee for Governor of Georgia, Stacey Abrams, took to MSNBC to discuss what the Democratic Party’s strategy should be for 2024. Unsurprisingly, the topics of race, elections, and democracy came up. Ms. Abrams detailed what she believes to be one of the biggest threats to democracy. Instead of naming the left’s usual suspect for the threat to democracy – Donald Trump – Ms. Abrams chose a different threat.

One of the first black eyes for the Biden administration happened just months after he took office. The disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan left the U.S. discredited and scarred a generation of veterans. Perhaps the most notable event from three years ago was the explosion at Kabul airport. The attack took the lives of 13 U.S. service members and about 170 Afghans. Since the attack, there have been congressional hearings and two investigations into what happened.

This month, conservative radio host Glenn Beck broke down the extent of DEI ideology in the medical community. The examples came from universities from coast to coast. Mandatory seminars on critical race theory and gender ideology abound while tried-and-true principles of medicine are abandoned. Medical treatment based on individualized patient care has been replaced with unrelated demographic groupings taking its place.

This weekend, a Nebraska teacher was caught in the nude with a high school student by local police. The chase that ensued before their actual capture would be embarrassing enough for both parties. However, the investigation has disclosed that the teacher in question is also the wife of a Department of Defense employee. The events surrounding this story range from both ridiculous to concerning. Unfortunately, sexual misconduct at public schools keeps popping up.

Blind trust in institutions almost always spells disaster. Growing up, I can recall a sense that questioning certain groups was to be less than patriotic. Don’t question military brass; they’d never lie to the American people. Trust what the evening news and morning paper tell you; it’s the journalist’s responsibility to report the facts and expose wrongdoing.
