I am delighted to announce that Joe Van Acker is joining Opinion as a senior project manager. Joe will work closely with me, Kate Elazegui, Meeta Agrawal, Brian Zittel and many others across Opinion to help organize our most ambitious work, foster collaboration across teams and manage the daily deadlines and requests for branding, design, art direction and technical know-how that touch all of our work. Joe’s is a new role for Opinion, but it’s definitely not new to The Times, and neither is Joe.

Additional response: No person should have the unilateral authority to launch a nuclear first strike and end life on this planet as we know it. This shouldn't be a radical idea. We live in a democracy, and if the president of the United States wants to use nuclear weapons in a pre-emptive attack, they must obtain approval from Congress.
