South Korea President Yoon Suk Yeol has apologised for declaring martial law earlier this week and has said there will not be another such order. The embattled leader is facing potential impeachment following Tuesday night's declaration, which was quickly overturned in the National Assembly. President Yoon said he would delegate the work of stabilising the situation to his ruling party. He did not mention the impeachment in his address on Saturday, nor did he resign as it was speculated he would.

A potentially catastrophic super typhoon has made landfall in the Philippines - the sixth typhoon to hit the country in a month. Man-Yi, known locally as Pepito, touched down at 21:40 local time (13:40 GMT) with maximum wind speeds of 195 km/h (121mph) along the coast of the eastern Catanduanes island, the state forecaster said.

A man who allegedly left his dog tied to a post in floodwaters ahead of Hurricane Milton has been charged with aggravated animal cruelty, officials say. The animal was rescued by Highway Patrol near a Florida highway on 9 October. Bodycam footage posted online, which has been viewed more than 12 million times, showed the dog standing beside a wire fence in water up to its chest.
