    State Representatives Tom Young (House District 37) and Phil Plummer (House District 39) joined Dayton Mayor Jeffrey Mims, Jr., Thursday morning for a press conference at the downtown RTA Hub.     When some Greene County residents turn on their faucet, they may notice the water flowing out of the faucet is softer. The county’s sanitary engineering department just completed a new $49 million addition to its Northwest Regional Water Plant. The plant provides water services to 23,000 customers. The upgrade now generates softer water through reverse osmosis technology. Director Mark Chandler stresses no chemicals or sodium are used. "It uses a nanofiltration membrane.

    Wittenberg University has been given a “financial distress” designation. That's according to the Higher Learning Commission, which accredits about 1,000 American colleges and universities. This means the school has more debt than income, raising questions of whether it can afford to teach classes, maintain staff, classrooms, dorms and other facilities and putting its national accreditation in jeopardy.

    A Montgomery grand Jury declined to indict two Dayton police officers accused of shooting and killing 16-year-old Brian Moody. The grand jury determined a crime was not committed. "I am appalled. I just can't believe that they would not indict these two officers for misconduct and unnecessary use of force," said community organizer Malik Akbar. He lives on Hillcrest Avenue, about three miles from where Moody was killed on June 29.
