It’s time for me to clean house a little and pull together some of the random library-related news updates that have been floating around in my Google Docs. Some highlights are dating apps getting into the publishing game, audiobook sales continuing to rise, new book announcements, and a road map for restoring school librarians. Come on in!AI is getting more powerful, but its hallucinations are getting worse. Tell me something we don’t already know.

AND I’LL TAKE A SHUTTLE. OKAY. HERE’S YOUR FORECAST FOR THE MATCH 91 AT KICKOFF, BUT THAT’S THE AIR TEMPERATURE. AND THAT’S AT 7 P.M. THE HEAT INDEX JUST COMING OUT OF THE TRIPLE DIGITS. BY THEN. SUNSETS PROBABLY DURING THE SECOND HALF OF THE MATCH, 88 DEGREES BY THE END OF THE MATCH. AS WE LOOK LIVE ACROSS DOWNTOWN KANSAS CITY RIGHT NOW, YOU CAN SEE A MIX OF CLEAR AND CLOUDS. WE HAVE SOME RAIN IN THE AREA, AND THAT’S WHAT’S BROUGHT US THESE CLOUDS, BUT IT’S STILL 75 DEGREES.

TAKE A LOOK AT OUR CITY VIEW CAMERA. LOOK RIGHT NOW. OH MY GOODNESS. YEAH, THAT’S THE BROADWAY BRIDGE. AND THE ONLY REASON I KNOW IT IS BECAUSE THOSE RED LIGHTS YOU CAN’T EVEN SEE DOWNTOWN AIRPORT, THE RAILROAD TRACKS, THE BROADWAY EXTENSION. THIS IS JUST A REALLY THICK FOG JUST ABOVE THE SURFACE. WE’RE NOT GETTING ANY REPORTS OF PEOPLE HAVING TROUBLE DRIVING IN THIS FOG, BUT IT IS CERTAINLY SOMETHING THAT IS HOVERING RIGHT ABOVE YOUR CAR. 59 DEGREES RIGHT NOW. AND THAT’S WHY WE HAVE THE FOG.

I’VE GOT THE WEATHER FOR YOU THIS MORNING LOOKING AT HOW MUCH RAIN HAS FALLEN OVER THE PAST 24 HOURS. YEAH, NOT MUCH AT ALL HERE IN THE CITY, AS A MATTER OF FACT, KC, I ONLY MEASURED A TRACE, BUT IT WAS FEAST AND FAMINE BECAUSE, BOY, THERE WAS PLENTY OF RAIN JUST SOUTHWEST OF THE CITY, NEAR GARNETT AND RACINE. OVER THREE INCHES OF RAIN. EMPORIA OVER FOUR INCHES OF RAIN. JUST NOT HAPPENING FOR US IN THE CITY.
