The Rotary Club of Pittston is hosting a comedy show fundraiser at Wise Crackers Comedy Club at the Mohegan Sun Casino on Saturday, Jan. 25. Tickets are $25. St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church will host St. Cyril and Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church Choir, Olyphant, for a free concert of Christmas carols from Eastern Europe. The concert, which will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 29, will feature holiday folk music common to the regions surrounding the Carpathian mountains of Slovakia and Ukraine. Concertgoers will have an opportunity to sing along with the voices of parishioners of St. Michael, Pittston, and St. Nicholas, Swoyersville.

St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church is holding a roast beef dinner today, Sunday, Nov. 17, at the church, 205 N. Main St., Pittston. A limited number of dinners in addition to those that were pre-ordered will be available from noon to 3 p.m.The dinner will be roast beef, mashed potatoes, gravy, two vegetable sides, biscuit, and dessert for $14. Potato and cheese pierogies also will be available for $10 per dozen.

Fall may just be beginning, but two Pittston organizations – Greater Pittston Santa Squad and Shop with a Cop – are already looking forward to Christmas. This month, Santa Squad has scheduled sign-ups for families seeking Christmas gifts and Shop with a Cop is holding its biggest fundraiser. Any families in the Wyoming Area or Pittston Area school districts who feel they may qualify for help this Christmas are advised Greater Pittston Santa Squad’s toy sign-ups are being held this month.
