SACRAMENTO, Calif. — In a historic move Friday, Sacramento State announced its new Native American College, a first of its kind in the California State university system. The college, a co-curricular institution housed at Sacramento State, will support Native-based education with a focus on leadership and career building. It will offer a diverse range of programs that integrate "tribal values, traditions and community engagement," according to a press release.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — In honor of Filipino American History Month, celebrated each year in October, 20 Filipina/x artists across the greater Sacramento region and the Bay Area brought their stories to center stage at the James Kaneko Gallery at American River College. Through powerful visual storytelling in the forms of sculpture, paintings, an interactive altar and more, the artists explored their own identity and how they are protecting their heritage.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Dozens of Mira Loma High School students gathered around a table at their campus quad Monday to pick up free snacks and menstrual products, while sharing their thoughts on how their school could better support them. The booth was organized by Titilope Olotu, a 2023 graduate of Mira Loma who is also the founder of Period Padi, a nonprofit that caters to menstrual needs.
