The Winter Trail Runs and Snowshoe Race took place at Pond Fest in Chenango Valley State Park today. This annual event is a highlight of the festival, but this year, organizers expanded the race to feature 10k, 20k, and 50k courses. "We actually wanted to get on to some of the other trails in Chenango Valley State Park and those trails are single track, they are beautiful, there's a little bit of undulation," said race director Matthew Gawors.

The Cornell Cooperative Extension of Broome County hosted a "Winter Woodland Cookie Decorating Class" at the Broome County Regional Farmer's Market today. Led by Amanda Sandefur, owner of Sugared Sweets Cookies, the class taught participants how to decorate cookies in a variety of winter-themed shapes, including mittens, snowy trees, hats, mountains, snowflakes, and even a raccoon. Sandefur said that the class had a great turnout, with twenty community members attending.

The DARE Winterguard hosted a bingo fundraiser at the Polish Community Center in Binghamton today to raise money for equipment and uniforms. The event featured a variety of prizes, including basket prizes, door prizes, a 50/50 drawing, and food. Winterguard President Mike Rounds said it is important to support performing arts organizations like theirs, which provide unique opportunities for participants.

Students from the Union-Endicott High School Italian Club visited elementary schools across the district to perform a skit based on the popular Italian folklore "La Befana" today. Italian Club member Faith Castoro said it is important to introduce cultural lessons at a young age. "If you can teach kids about other cultures while they're young, they're more likely as they grow up to be more interested to learn about other cultures, to travel.
