0 Connie Shaw, a student at the University of Leeds and former Daytime Editor at Leeds Student Radio (LSR), was suspended from her committee position. This was after expressing her ‘gender critical’ views in her podcast “the fringe” and in an article for the Substack entitled: “Gender Madness at the University of Leeds”. The Leeds Student Union said she had breached their code of conduct and thus could no longer remain on a committee.

0 The University of Exeter’s time in the esteemed University Challenge has come to an abrupt end after a damning defeat by The University of Bristol on Monday 16 December. After a stressful 30 minutes for the Exeter team, the final score was a huge 290 to Brisol, and only 35 to Exeter. This week marked the third episode of the second round, meaning Bristol will be off to the quarter finals, whilst Exeter has become the 15th team to leave the competition.

0 Nightline is a confidential anonymous listening and information service for students at the University of Exeter. This is part of a larger charity- the National Nightline Assocation- with a huge network of university Nightlines across the country. I spoke to Co-President Elodie Maggs about the role of Nightline in Exeter, and how it can help students whilst at university. They are led by a team of trained, caring students, there to speak to any student who needs a chat.

The advert, featuring the use of they/them pronouns as Mrs Claus says “Oh that’s very them” is one of the best to be released this year, yet it has sparked damaging conversations about inclusivity in advertising. Christmas adverts are staples for the beginning of the festive season and are long awaited by many.
