NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Loud start to our Saturday morning for folks on the west side of Middle Tennessee with storms pushing through. Heavy rain, small hail & thunder are all common factors within these storms. As we head into the rest of our day, isolated strong to severe storm chances increase for folks in our northeastern counties. Tomorrow we'll continue to dodge raindrops, but temperatures will be running a bit cooler than today. We're much drier as we head into the next work week.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Ernesto has recently been updated to a Category 1 hurricane as the disturbance continues to churn in the Atlantic. After sweeping through the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico, the storm is now on track toward Bermuda. As of Thursday afternoon 389,424, clients across Puerto Rico are still without power, according to LUMA Energy. A Hurricane Warning is in place as Ernesto will likely strengthen to a major hurricane before approaching Bermuda, meaning a Category 3 or higher.
EF0 tornado touches down in Kentucky with Beryl remnants, NWS confirms

DUBRE, Kent. (WTVF) — The National Weather Service confirmed an EF0 tornado briefly touched down in northern Cumberland County on July 9 between Ferris Fork Road and Cedar Ridge. The tornado touched down near Dubre. The estimated peak wind was 85 mph. The width of the tornado was 200 yards. NWS surveyors said the damage consisted of mostly tree damage, including hardwoods and softwoods laying in multiple directions. The tornado then lifted after crossing into Metcalfe County along Earl Hurt Road.

Unseasonably hot conditions have arrived, and they're going to make themselves comfortable as they stick around for the next week. Nashville has climbed into the mid-90s today. A pop-up storm is possible this afternoon but nothing widespread is anticipated. Overnight we'll stay mild, falling into the mid-70s . We're still trending very warm this weekend and early next week. Temperatures are still trending into the upper 90s with Nashville sliding into the triple digits.

Looks can be deceiving and don't let the sunshine let you put your guard down for this evening, into tonight. We're still on track for two rounds of storms with the first peaking between 7 and 10 PM. This first batch will be storms pushing into the region by Mississippi. The biggest threat will be strong, damaging winds and large hail. The second round will be between 10 PM and 3 AM as a cold front sweeps the region as it comes from the northwest.
