Introduction α-Diazocarbonyl compounds are synthetically versatile intermediates that have been widely studied since Curtius first reported the synthesis of ethyl diazoacetate in 1883.1 These compounds can undergo various carbon–carbon bond forming transformations such as cyclopropanation,2 ylide formation and rearrangement,3 aromatic addition4 and C−H insertion5 under mild conditions.
