Australia and Indonesia have renewed their ties and pledged to pursue closer defence and economic relationships as their leaders vowed to remain “good neighbours”. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese had formal talks with Indonesian leader Prabowo Subianto in the presidential palace in Jakarta on Thursday, both one-on-one and with their foreign and home affairs ministers. The leaders also had a more casual catch-up the night before when Mr Prabowo dropped into the Prime Minister’s hotel.
