DiscussionTo our knowledge, this is the first study to have systematically compared predicted short-term CVD risk and heart age gaps in a contemporary primary care population. The study demonstrates that these two metrics trend in opposite directions with increasing age and therefore reflect quite different dimensions of CVD risk.
