Some authors and analysts have sharedconcerns that anger over the genocide in Gaza may result in increasedradicalization. This spurious conclusion is usually off-base by conflatingfrustration with the United States and criticism of Israel as radical sentiments. These are political sentiments. That said,  in corners on the internet -not dark or hidden - actual radicalization still continues. These two circles -angry street protestors with radical elements - cannot be confused.

Almost all of us now agree that there was aMiddle East before October 7, and the one after. We all agree that we can nevergo back to the status quo ante. We also can’t move forward with the sameprocesses, beliefs, and relationships we had before. Too much has changed. Thisis all easy to agree with. The question is, what does it all mean? Talk to a party leader or a politico orone of these ‘election experts,’ and they will say the elections may be pushedfor some time.

As 2024 began with the high profileassassination of Hamas leader Aroury (in the Hezbollah stronghold of SouthernDahhiya in Beirut), the US strike on Shia forces in Iraq, and the ISIS bombingin Iran, predictions of a regional war possibly became a reality. The war onGaza has already ushered in regional upheaval - not in the shape of war butrestructuring of power centers and hierarchies.
