I grew up the middle of three girls, sandwiched between two sisters. Yup, I’m just like Jan Brady, minus the bonus brothers. My sisters and I filled our teenage years with activities like sports, theater, and student council. We also filled them with Aqua Net, jelly shoes, stirrup pants, and princess phones. Living with sisters meant I was never exposed to the reality of life with a typical teenage boy. I think that’s why my teenage son constantly surprises me.

Departments affected by recent flooding in the Student Services Building (BLDG. 124) have relocated to the Administration Building (BLDG. 1) for the remainder of the fall quarter, with no definite timeline for their return, according to University Spokesperson Matt Lazier. Cal Poly Career Services, TRIO Achievers, External Relations and the Disability Resource Center (DRC) were displaced by the flooding, Lazier said.

The $78 million reconstruction of Kennedy Library is ahead of schedule and projected to open at the start of the next academic year. Project Manager John Sandman said he is confident the project will make the target date. New features for students include a first and second-floor 24-hour hub, all-gender and ADA compliant bathrooms, new classrooms and a Julian’s Cafe on the first level. The Kennedy Library Transformation is a part of Cal Poly’s Master Plan, Sandman said.

Community member Will Sani arrived at the Ludwick Community Center polling station on the morning of Election Day knowing he still had to register to vote. Sani lived in Oakland, California previously. He found out he was not registered to vote in San Luis Obispo County when he did not get sent a mail-in ballot last month. Sani said the in-person registration process at Ludwick Community Center was easy. “It took like five minutes,” Sani said. “Last time I voted was in Oakland, and it was a zoo.
