The final remaining British men's UCI Continental cycling team, Cornwall-based Saint Piran Pro Team, have today confirmed that as of 2025 they will no longer be operational. Just two weeks after Trinity Racing announced it would not be operating its road racing arm in 2025, the British domestic scene suffers yet another blow, with the men's side of the sport no longer represented at ProTeam or Continental level. The INEOS Grenadiers are the sole remaining functional men's team in Britain.

On Saturday 3rd August, one minute and eleven seconds after Remco Evenepoel had raised his bike aloft in front of the Eiffel Tower, producing an image so evocative we’ll probably still be talking about it in fifty years’ time, Valentin Madouas crossed the line in second place. His hand covered his mouth in shock as he realised what he was about to do: claim an Olympic silver medal, have his name written in the history books, riding for his country, in his home nation.

After working for others for many years, this year you’re focussing more on your own goals. Was this a key factor when you moved from UAE Team Emirates to Israel-Premier Tech? It was something I was seeking out. I like working for people but I definitely get a better version of myself going for results. I like the balance. Like this year I’ve spent a lot of time riding for other people already, but I’ve had Abruzzo [Giro d’Abruzzo, where he came third] and I’ll get other chances.
